The mirror effect can be seen year-round when a thin layer of water enhances the salt flats’ reflective surface. However, after the dry season (typically September to November), water levels may vary depending on weather conditions.

Full moon nights may reduce visibility for stargazing due to increased brightness. You can check the 2025 lunar phases here.

we recommend planning your trip during the dry season (May–October), when the skies are clearest and there is minimal cloud cover. During these months, the absence of rain ensures optimal visibility, allowing you to fully enjoy the breathtaking night sky over the Uyuni Salt Flats.

During the rainy season (December–March), access to Incahuasi Island may be restricted due to flooding, as vehicles cannot traverse the water-covered salt flats. However, this natural phenomenon transforms the landscape, creating the breathtaking mirror effect, where the flats perfectly reflect the sky—a stunning sight and an unmissable opportunity for photography.
